Margaret Thatcher deserves better than this bore — but at least she gets played to uncanny interpretation by Meryl Streep who bites into this role with her technical gusto that has made her history’s greatest living actress. Not much can be said of Phyllida Lloyd’s middling, leaden effort as director. The Iron Lady [2011] is rusty, pretentious, self-important but with no sense of direction, and ultimately boring as hell.
